Horizon Outlet Center - Monroe is an outdoor outlet mall located at 14500 Laplaisance Road in Monroe, Michigan, approximately 25 miles south of Detroit and near the Ohio state line. The mall sits in a suburban area that is not a major tourist destination but is accessible via nearby highways, including Interstate 75, which provides visibility and access. The surrounding region features a mix of residential communities and some local attractions such as parks and historical sites, but the mall itself is somewhat isolated from high-traffic tourist corridors. Originally opened in the late 1980s as Monroe Factory Shops, Horizon Outlet Center was once a popular shopping destination drawing visitors from Southeast Michigan and Northwest Ohio. It housed a variety of well-known outlet stores including Nike, Reebok, Gap, Levi’s, and Old Navy. The typical retail mix focused on fashion, footwear, and sports apparel brands offering discounted merchandise. Over time, the mall’s tenant base declined significantly, and many storefronts became vacant or fell into disrepair.
